History

After over 30 years of pursuing a highly creative and successful civil litigation practice in Southern California, Gene is utilizing his skills, experience and insights as a mediator and as an arbitrator. Gene has obtained a wealth of knowledge from his extensive trial experience on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Gene is certified in Conflict Resolution Training by the prestigious Conflict Resolution Institute. 

Gene is an American Arbitration Association Affiliate Mediator. Gene is also a Settlement Master who conducts Mandatory Settlement Conferences for the Santa Barbara County Superior Court and a Pro Tem who conducts Mandatory Settlement Conferences for the Ventura County Superior Court. Gene is a mediator for the Santa Barbara County Superior Court’s CADRe Approved Private Mediation Panel, its CMADRESS Panel and its CADRe Limited Mediation Panel. In addition, Gene is a mediator for the Ventura County Superior Court Mediation Program. He is also a member of the U.S. Central District Court of California Mediation Panel.

As a mediator, Gene utilizes his innate ability to break down and simplify complex/complicated issues to fashion practical and creative solutions that lead to resolution of the matters.  As an arbitrator, Gene is able to address the issues in a direct and penetrating matter and render arbitration awards that are based on the evidence and the law.  Gene does not perpetrate a disservice to the parties by "splitting the baby" in his arbitration awards.
